Review: Brody House, Budapest

Driving down a quiet street, I spot a sign the size of my palm "Brody House". We've arrived and we instantly feel like locals. Quickly realising that the locals must only dream of living in this beautifully old (built 1896) and most likely listed building. The high ceilings and sweeping staircase immediately draw us in, along with the staff's relaxed, friendly welcome.

The rooms are all unique and named after a Brody House artist whose works feature in what were often their former studios. We're staying in Julia's Studio named after Julia Végh ("She likes to emphasise the incidence, which composes seemingly distant elements into one given space and time. Representing the reminiscent ego, the images becoming dreamlike and personal also."). Indeed, the rooms are very special, however, the area of the hotel that edges it for us is the communal lounge with its huge windows and original parquet floor, making us feel completely at home whilst tucking into the honesty bar.

Brody House has 11 hotel rooms (they also have Brody16 which is made up of 14 one, two and three bedroom apartments and The Writers Villa sleeping 14). Rooms start at £77* per night. For couples, I love the style of the Ludo Room with its freestanding bathtub in the bedroom and for a group of 4, the Print Suite is great. As well as the accommodation that BrodyLand offer, they have Brody ArtYard down the road where you can peruse and purchase art work, should you fancy.
